Who may enter a caption? Anyone age eighteen or over may enter, except employees or immediate family members of employees of Rodale, the Cartoonist Group, licensors of rights to the Cartoonist Group or any other party associated with the development or administration of the Contest.
Entries will be understood to be submitted by account holder of the email address used to submit the entry at the time of entry. One entry/account.
When an entry is made, the entrant represents and warrants that the submission is their original work and does not violate the rights of any other person or entity.
What is not an entry? Entries or votes that are lost, late, incomprehensible or not received, for any reason, are not the responsibility of Eat Drink Vote and will not be eligible.
What if two or more people submit the same entry? Only the first entry will be valid.
Eat Drink Vote may disqualify any person tampering with the entry or voting process, the operation of the Web site, or otherwise in violation of the rules. Shame on you!
Right to cancel. Although we doubt we'll do anything like this ... Eat Drink Vote reserves the right to cancel, terminate, or modify any contest at any time.
Who owns what is submitted? We do. All entry materials become the property of Eat Drink Vote and will not be acknowledged or returned.
Eat Drink Vote or others acting on our behalf shall have the right to edit, adapt, and modify an entry.
How will this work? Three finalists will be selected for each contest by panel of three judges. All three finalists' captions will be published on the Cartoon Caption Contest page within a week of the deadline for entry submission.
The judges have the final word. All decisions are final and binding - well, at least in regards to the Contest anyway.
Who wins? The winner of each contest will be the person whose caption receives the greatest number of valid votes.
Who may vote? Anyone age eighteen or over may enter, except employees or immediate family members of employees of Rodale, the Cartoonist Group, licensors of rights to the Cartoonist Group or any other party associated with the development or administration of the Contest.
Votes will be understood to be submitted by account holder of the email address used to submit the vote at the time of voting. One entry/account.
Information about how to vote and deadlines will be provided for each contest.
The Judges will tabulate the votes and announce the winner on the Cartoon Caption Contest page. Chance plays no part in the determination of the winner and no purchase is required to enter or vote.
What is the prize? A copy of Eat Drink Vote signed by Marion Nestle. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not respond within three (3) days, an alternate winner may be selected, and awarded to the person whose caption received the next greatest number of votes.
The prize is not transferable - but gift giving is encouraged!
No substitutions for the Prize except by Eat Drink Vote, in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be substituted.
Legal fine print .... Subject to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. As permitted by law, any judgments or awards shall be limited to out of pocket damages (excluding attorneys' fees), and shall not include any indirect, punitive or consequential damages.
Except where prohibited, acceptance of the prize constitutes consent to use winner's name, likeness, and winning entry for editorial, advertising, and publicity purposes, without further compensation.
